PROM

So, tonight was prom. It was really fun, and I’m glad I went with Jonathan. He actually got a limo! I’d never been in a limo before, so that was cool. I felt like I was in a teen movie or something, with the way he picked me up at my house and put on my corsage, and with our moms and his sisters taking a whole bunch of pictures. Talk about ultimate teen movie moment!

We even popped open a bottle of sparkling cider on our way to Balboa, while we reminisced over elementary school and high school, and even talked about the usual nerdy stuff, like video games and books and movies. We were among the first to arrive at the Hall of Champions, which was actually set up real nicely. When I’d been there before, I thought it was a horrible place to have our prom at, but the decorating job was done perfectly, and the dance floor was really nice with the sparkling disco ball overhead. I told Jonathan straight up that I’m not much of a dancer, and I prefer slow dancing to dirty bumping and grinding, and he was totally cool with that. We talked with friends most of the night, and took advantage of the yummy cream puffs and chocolate-covered strawberries they had at the desert table. We took pictures in front of a big backdrop and everything, which reminded both of us of Beauty and the Beast. We got in a few slow dances, which was really nice, but it’s a shame they didn’t play too many slow songs. Jonathan told me he praciticed his dance moves and everything, and he was a lot better than me, even if it only was in fact slow dancing… no matter what, I think I’ll always have two left feet, haha.

By the end of the night I was surprised my feet weren’t killing me in the $8 heels I bought at Factory2U, and my hair managed to stay tame in the puppy curls. The limo driver took us over the Coronado bridge, which was really cool, and we listened to random top 40 music on our way home. I kept my corsage on for the rest of the night, even after changing out of my dress and into booty shorts and a wifebeater, and before going to sleep, I pinned it right next to my Audrey Hepburn poster.

I spent the rest of the night helping Matt clean up & taking care of all the drunk hoes! I was even a “designated driver” to take a particular fuckwad home.

SKATING ROBIN

The weather was rainy & gorgeous today<3 Went ice skating in La Jolla for Victoria’s (extended) birthday celebration! Drove up there with Victoria, Kim, Robby, Blake & Brian. Met up there with Vico, Ximena, Trey, Zack, Ed, Ruben, Josalle, Jeffrey, Tina, & James. I’m pretty much a wuss when it comes to ice skating. LOL @ holding on to Blake’s hand (& other willing peoples’) for dear life 50% of the time. I only fell once! But that was because Robby & Brian were messing with me, those jerks, haha-! The ice skating music included Wonderwall (first song that was playing), some Miley Cyrus crap, No Doubt’s Just A Girl, Ryan Cabrera, and… I don’t remember what else. Afterwards, we ate at Red Robin (YUMMMMMMMMMMMM). I ordered a bacon cheeseburger… YUMMMMMMMMMMMM. I love Red Robin. Never ending refills on drinks AND fries?! Amazing. Throwing sugar packets and inhaling helium balloons are fun. After that, we all went our separate ways; me, Victoria, Kim, Robby, Blake & Brian went back to Robby’s casa and played with his kickass synth, and watched Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist. LOL @ tug of war with Robby’s sock, that’s some pretty intense stuff right there. After THAT, we dropped Kim off and got Taco Bell. Drove to the airplane wing park -AKA Montgomery Waller- and watched people boning in the car parked across from us while nom nom noming on food. T’was a good Saturday indeed. OH YEAH! New game, which is called “chap,” hee hee.

THE RESOLUTION

Happy New Year! Hello 2009.

I liked ringing in the new year with James phone talk. It was nice, to say the least. LOL @ kisses.

I suppose it’s time for a list of some sort of resolutions. I don’t really have that many in mind, but I’ll do my best for the sake of the new year…
+ get driver’s license
+ get a job
+ don’t slack off (as much) in school
+ write more [particularly progress in Cheese, Chocolate, & Grapes]
+ work out/eat healthier
+ save money !!!
+ have someone to be with/kiss when the ball drops for 2010

Those are all realistic resolutions, right? Well, okay… that last one might be wishful thinking, but it’d be nice!

THANKS

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone.

Watching old home movies from when I was a baby really hit a nerve, and I was eventually in tears. Hard to believe I’m that same baby girl… well, not quite so hard to believe, since I stumbled around unsteadily on my two feet even way back when… I guess I’ve always been the same girl, hahah. I’ve really grown up and I can’t believe how much some things have changed. The house looked the same (in some parts) the people looked younger (& LOL@ early 90’s fashion). (And I noticed that I was a Disney freak from the womb. My high chair was Mickey & Minnie Mouse, and I ALWAYS wore a Minnie Mouse sweatshirt.) Kim said that watching those home movies would make me feel thankful, and she was right. I don’t know what else to say, other than thank you… to everyone. My life wouldn’t be the same without any of you, and I love you guys for that. I love my friends. I love my family. I love every curve ball life has ever thrown at me. I never thought I could get so choked up just from watching myself stumble around the same old house in diapers. God… this house. I’ve grown up in it. The tile is still the same, that’s what really gets me for some reason, I don’t know why. I’ve stumbled around on the same old tile for almost 18 years now, and I’m still not the least bit graceful, hahaha.

I don’t know what I’m really getting at anymore, but I suppose that doesn’t matter, because when I read this back a year from now, I’ll remember where my thoughts were when I wrote this, and that’s what matters. This is a rather unconventional “what I’m thankful for” blog, but oh well. I’m an unconventional girl, right?

UPSIDE DAY

This morning I sort of felt like shit, partially because of the phone talk I had last night, and because I was jut flat-out sleep deprived… because that’s how it’s been lately. Sorry if I was such a downer. Everyone has their off days, right? I brightened up for some weird reason towards the end of second period, and felt better – more or less. [There really is no damn point in being upset over something I can't change, as much as I'd like it to. Like the song goes: While truckin' down the road of life, although all hope seems gone, I just move on. When I can't find a single star to hang my wish upon, I just move on, I move on. I got all the closure and clarity in the world, and that's all that matters, really. I think my (very) newly found glee has left me feeling more ready to be forgiving and civil about it all. Call it a random epiphany, if you will. And... new inspiration, can't forget that.]

Anyways, I was seriously trailing off topic… but like I was saying, today really seemed to lift my spirits, for a number of reasons. I actually got into the musical at school. (Oh yeah, I actually did try out, by the way. I sang That Thing You Do! for my audition song.) I can’t believe I’m at least a little good enought to get in. I must say, I’m proud of myself. High School Musical, here we go! Had lots and lots of LOLs with Victoria and Kim after school. “Will you eat my insides, Catherine?” LOL @ burned potstickers. Mad Libs is about a million times more amusing when you’ve got perverted word choices, in MY opinion. *WINK WINK*

About an hour ago, my mom tells me my sister, Ana’s genius plan of having me & a friend (I pick Kim right off the bat, because it’s just a given) meet up with her and my brother-in-law, Don, and niece, Colleen, and nephew, Sean at Disneyland for TWO DAYS while she and him attend to work-related matters. HELL YEAH. Now, I’m listening to Disney music, getting myself really pumped up. Nothing else gives me such a wonderful feeling the way Disneyland does… that’s just how it is with me. Disneyland is my sweet escape, and it really could not have come at a better time.

The last two-ish months of the year are always my favorite, and this year is no exception. I’ve always got so much to look forward to around this time of the year, and I love that. Twilight at midnight with Victoria and a whole bunch of other people on Thursday, Thanksgiving weekend is next weekend, and the weekend after THAT will be Disneyland, and the weekend after Disneyland will be the first week of winter break! You should all know by now know all the things in store for winter break: 18th birthday (which has a bunch of cool sub-plans/events on its own), I’m going back to the Disney Store (or so I’m told) after I turn 18, and then there’s Christmas… AND New Year’s! Whooooooooo. This is a wonderful time for things to be looking up for me. I’m glad. Lord knows I needed it, and for that I’m very thankful :)

P.S. Better than Jacob Black.

LOPEZ x4

Friday, November 7- I got an extra hour to myself in the morning, since I was technically excused from first period, because the bus wasn’t scheduled to pick us up until the beginning of nutrition break. Went to Fashion Valley for P.R. and photo class. Walking all around the mall left my feet screamingly sore, with a few blisters here and there. OUCH. We met up with the P.R. lady for about 15 minutes before we got the next few hours to ourselves. Ate at Panda Express with Fernando, Ximena, Vico, and Katrina. I bought the cutest Catwoman shirt at H & M… the remaining balance on my ATM is about $19. YIKES.

I kind of, sort of ditched fourth period when we got back to school, which is something I never do, so give me a break! Stopped by at a couple Game Stop stores to see if they even touched my applications. Apparently, they’re not busy enough to be hiring. Greeeeeeeeat. I’m going to be unemployed for the fuckin’ holidays. I can only dream that I’ll get a call in the next week or so saying that one of those locations want me. I NEED A JOB.

A little while later, I went to Victoria’s house, where I gave her some tips on Mafia Wars and we discussed our increasing obsession with Twilight *WINK WINK* We also both decided to try out for the school musical… High School Musical, to be exact. I don’t really have a huge desire to actually be in it… because it’s just High School Musical, but… it would be cool if I actually got a part in it or something, then I’d have to be in it, but I’m not going to get all butt-hurt if I don’t make it. My singing voice isn’t exactly wonderful. (I’m still deciding on whether or not to sing “The Mixed Tape” by Jack’s Mannequin or “That Thing You Do!” by The Wonders… I have until Wednesday/Thursday to make my decision!) A little later into the night, we watched Diary of the Dead, because we couldn’t get around to it on Halloween. It left me paranoid, like all zombie movies, and I was glad my mom insisted on driving half a quarter mile down the road to pick me up, because walking home would have been a nightmare, lol.

Saturday, November 8- I had to wake up around 6, 7AMish for this lame college prep workshop/Filipino pride event down at Sweetwater High School. I walked into their gym, and the first thing I saw emblazoned on the wall was a huge mural of Satan. WTFFFFFFFFFFFFFF. I had no idea their mascot was the Red Devils! Opening speeches/remarks were about 2 hours, and I noticed they did not stick to the time schedule and the first workshop rotation had to be cancelled. The second one I had to go to was about applying for financial aid, which was nothing I hadn’t heard before. The third rotation was some workshop regarding stereotypes and the importance of accepting all races, genders, etc. Tyler and Sam were there for that one, so it wasn’t as painful as it could have been. During an activity, I was randomly labeled as a “poor person,” LOL. Tyler was a “promiscuous male” and Sam was an “ASB member.” After all the workshops were done, I stayed a little longer for free food (abobo, pansit, and rice–nothing special) and I got two free shirts. I wasted a good 5 hours of my life at that damn pointless workshop.

A little later, I called Victoria to come over and help me kill time. After swooning over the newest issue of Entertainment Weekly (which had Edward and Bella on the cover… OH BABY) and kicking ass in more Mafia Wars, AND looking at the over-priced Twilight shirts and hoodies on the Hot Topic website (and then hatching the plan of making our own Twilight shirts), we went to Old Navy with her mom and sister. After getting back to her casa from Old Navy, we got picked up by Manny and chilled at his house for a while with Jo, and his college buddies- Janis and Angel. Michelle Bush stopped by with brownies.. YUM. Victoria and I obsessed over Twilight even more with Janis and Angel, which was really cool… and kind of nerdy, but oh well!

Sunday, November 9- Went to church, as usual. I felt really bad, because the sermon ended before I evenalmost-legal started listening… I just zoned out for some weird reason. Kim came over after church, and then Victoria. We  went to go pick up Tina, and watched Diary of the Dead at mi casa. Halfway through the movie, my mom took us to Michael’s, so Victoria and I could get fabric paint for our Twilight shirts. We also got really cute iron-ons for the back design of the shirt. We had to swing by Old Navy so I could get my matching black wife beater. OH YEAH! The weather that day was really nice: cold, windy and rainy. I love fall/winter weather, and I can’t wait for it to get even colder and grayer. Back at my house we ate sweet and sour pork, then finished Diary. After that, we ended up watching Planet Terror. BRUCE WILLIS IS A BABE ;D

Monday, November 10- Spent most of the morning in Eastlake with my mom, because she wanted to check out this new Goodwill book store around there. It was a small store, but really well organized. I bought the entire Chronicles of Narnia collection for $5! I was hoping I’d see Eclipse somewhere amongst the old, used books… but that was wishful thinking. We hung out at the cutest Borders book store I’ve ever seen. And I had no idea there was even one in Eastlake-! I was looking through Eclipse, when this chick on crutches asked if I’ve read any of the Twilight books, and we ended up having a nice little chat about the series before she had to leave. I found one of my favorite genre sections (Reference books) and holed up there for the rest of the visit. I skimmed through a writing reference book about writing/publishing your first novel, which gave me more inspiration and motivation to get back into the habit of writing at least once a day, everyday again. I wish I could have bought it, but it was $16… and I had $0. On the way home, my mom and I picked up some food from Johnny Carino’s, which kept my mouth watering all the way home.

[Random quote from my mom while driving: "This driver in the red car must have itchy balls."]

I indulged in some delicious pasta and chicken when we got home, and shortly after, I was in a damn food coma. When I woke up, I had some phone talk, then went to Victoria’s casa to make our Twilight shirts. The first part of the shirts are a total SUCCESS. Picture this: black wifebeater, and silver text that says “Stupid lamb.” It might sound lame to you, but those shirts are our little masterpieces. You have NO IDEA what it took us to make those. We still have to put the iron-ons, but that’ll come later on this week, perhaps. We even decided to do our makeup and everything for the midnight show. OH YEAH. We’re going to the midnight show, since next Friday is a late start day at school. HOLLAAAAAAAAAAAA!

And if you haven’t noticed, I spent 4 out of my 5 day weekend with Victoria, hence the title of this blog, LOL.

HALLOWEENIE ‘08

This year’s Halloween was really fun… possibly one of the best. The Scooby Doo group costumes were a complete success, if I do say so myself :) LOL @ bumping the Scooby Doo theme song (ON REPEAT) with Josalle’s jeep as the Mystery Machine, driving up and down Palm Avenue, then finally pulling up in front of school. I had forgotten just how much I love Halloween; it’s really amusing to see everyone dressed up in the randomest costumes. I saw: a ceiling fan, some big Merlin/wizard head, gay cowboys, Disney princesses, and a slutty nun- to list a few.

I was invited to a few parties, and I totally had just about every intention of getting drunk and/or high that night for the hell of it, but I didn’t… and I’m glad I didn’t, because my night went really well without excessive partying on my part. Met up with Judas Victoria, and we went to Luzita’s for some good ol’ California burritos. The liquor store didn’t have any raspberry Arizona, which broke my heart. We saw Robin & Alex Li walking around the parking lot- Robin was looking for a place to get a haircut. Random, lol. Stopped by Factory2U, which always goes hand-in-hand after a trip to Luzita’s. Passed by Northgate and totally got a little peek of James Franco working at one of the registers by the door. Walked back to Victoria’s and got ready to go out. Mila kept calling me Vico, hahahaha! She’s too cute :3

[My on-going, repetitive conversation with Mila all night long]

C: What’s my name?

M: Vico!

C: What’s your name?

M: Cookie!

C: What’s my name?

M: No.

C: What’s your name?

M: No.

Victoria just HAD to bust out the scary pocket knife so we’d have some protection for the night. A lot of good that did us. She left it in the car. (Besides, we didn’t even need it, I swear.) Went trick-or-treating with Mila around Victoria’s nana’s neighborhood, then dropped by Vico’s to meet up with her, Lorena and Melanie. A little while after resting our tired feet, Victoria’s mom picked us up and we stopped by CVS, drove around Palm Pacifica looking for The Asylum haunted house (with no luck), then Blockbuster. Rented Dead Silence and Diary of the Dead. Got some food from Carl’s Jr. and got dropped off at mi casa. After freshening up/washing off makeup and checking Myspace/Mafia Wars, we watched Dead Silence in my living room… or at least tried to. I don’t know if it was the shitty acting or my lack of interest as the movie progressed, or my insane exhausted state that kept me everything but absorbed in the movie. We eventually crawled into my super comfy snug bed and watched Romero’s Night of the Living Dead until we went to sleep. The next morning we watched The Hills Have Eyes, which still freaks me out, even after all these years. Candy & pretzels for breakfast are the only way to go the day after Halloween, nom nom nom.

And at last, it is November. Only 1 month and 15 days until I’m 18. The last few months have always been my favorite time of the year; all the best holidays are at the end! I’m ready for some nice winter weather and the holidays :3

HOMECOMING & STUFF [2]

Saturday was good, to say the least. :)

I had the house to myself all morning, which I loved. Geez, I can’t wait until I get my own place. God knows when that’ll be. (I really don’t want to forget about this… so here’s a side note: I was really giggly because I was looking at some new reblogs on Tumblr, and I heard my mom say to my dad “I have bread inside the car… do not esmush it.” LOL @ my mom’s Spanish accent peeking out at the end of that sentence. I really can’t explain why, but that just made me really giggly for the rest of the morning.)

I got ready for Mila’s 2nd birthday/costume party & had phone talk with James- the majority of the conversation included discussion about Mafia Wars/Myspace, like always, lol. I also spent a good 15 minutes looking for the damn wrapping (no, not rapping, lol James) paper for Mila’s gift. Turns out it was in the first place I looked.

Here’s another LOL, before I forget… I was about to get picked up by Kim (while still on the phone) and said bye to my mom as I was heading out the door; *puts phone down* ME: “Kim’s gonna give me a ride to the party, I wrote down the address by the computer. I’ll call you later.” MOM: “Okay… cover up!” [referring to  my cleavage... {which wasn't really so cleavage-y at all, I swear}] *shuts door, returns attention to phone* JAMES: “Tell your mom I said thank-you.” ME: “For what? OH! For telling me to cover up cleavage?!” LOL. That was a good phone talk, he made me smile & giggle, like always<3

I only managed to stay at Victoria’s nana’s casa for a few hours. Had some jumps in the bounce house with Vico, Robby, Victoria, Kim, Mila & Brian. (LOL @ Robby’s sickass milkshake superhero costume, BTW. Very kickass.) I’m super excited for Halloween, even though I’m not going to Jack’s Mannequin anymore *tear* But, hay! Trick-or-treating is going to be really fun. I’ve been on a sweet craze lately, so the timing couldn’t be more perfect.

I headed home around 5ish to rush and get ready for homecoming. The directions given in the invitation were shit, but we found the place okay. Xander, Savannah, Erica & Gabriel were the first few (out of the people I actually knew) to arrive, then everyone else started showing up. I felt dizzy as soon as I got on the boat, and I knew that if I were to leave my 3 inch+ heels on, it’d be the death of me. It was a really nice boat- 4 levels: the bathroom on the lowest level, the dance floor on the second, the “galley” on the third, and the top was open space for seats and stuff.

The DJ pretty much sucked ass. There’s really no other way to describe that. Not many of the songs he played were as fun & dancy as I would have liked them to be. I requested ‘Hot In Herre’ (yes, the Nelly song) at the beginning of the dance and I don’t think he even gave playing that a second thought. It would have been a total LOL moment if he had played it… I mean, it would be completely appropriate since the dance floor was a sweat fest to begin with. I was also disappointed because he didn’t play ‘Swing’ or ‘It’s Tricky.’ LAME. LOL @ dancing with James during a mariachi song. That was the only real one-on-one dance I actually had that night, the rest was a bunch of nasty freaking with Tina, Ruben, Josalle, Yvonne, Jeffrey, Robin… and a bunch of other people I’m too lazy to recall. Damn. I really have no rhythm, it’s horrible, LOL. *Note to self: take dancing classes in preperation for my wedding… wouldn’t want to make a fool of myself with my lack of dancing skills.* Another lame thing was the fact the DJ didn’t play any slow songs… except for one at the end of the night when everyone was getting off the boat. Me & Jeff danced for like 15 seconds, hah!

Poor Tina was seasick during the dance. I had a headache all night, but hey… when do I NOT have a headache, right? I’m surprised I didn’t get all woozy like I usually do on boats, that was nice. I really enjoyed sitting out on the deck with the breeze of the cold ocean air. It wasn’t remotely close to Titanic at all, but I couldn’t help but think about that in the back of my mind. At one point when we were in the middle of what seemed to be nowhere, it was pitch black on the water and the fog was really rolling in… it was creepy since you couldn’t see anything. I began thinking about The Mist and went back inside, lol. We got back around 11ish, and it was foggy all over town, which I enjoyed immensely. James was mine & Jeffrey’s ride home. We were waiting around the harbor for about an hour-ish until James’ sister picked us up. I was hella tired and hella scrubby. The puppy dog curls were gone and my hair was almost completely straight. The bottom of my feet were black and dirtied from walking around barefoot all night long. As much as I suck at dancing, homecoming was really fun, and I’m glad I went :)

QUARANTINE, PLP & CARAMEL APPLES

Friday, October 10– “Date night” with Victoria! My mom didn’t believe me when I said I saw someone giving away a free big screen TV, hah! Walked around in hopes of picking up job applications for decent stores… all we got was Claire’s and Pac Sun. FAIL. I still really want to work at Game Stop… NO MATTER WHAT! Robby & Blake decided to join us to watch Quarantine, which totally scared the shit out of me. I’ve never jumped or screamed so much at the movies (that I can remember). I really liked it and I can’t wait until it’s playing at the Navy Base for free, hahah. Those new bastard kitten heels left my feet screaming by the end of the night, so I had no choice but to walk around Plaza Bonita mall barefoot. YUCK.

Saturday, October 11– Spent most of the day doing nothing. I got ready for The Parking Lot Proposal’s show and realized that I was practically starving, so I called Victoria up to see if she wanted to walk to Taco Bell and get some food before we left. YEARS LATER we met up at the intersection and walked down Coronado together… less than 5 minutes later we realized that it was pretty chilly and we were both idiots who forgot our cardigans at home. I got my “usual” at Taco Bell (two cheesy double beef burritos and a Sierra Mist… the raspberry iced tea tasted disgusting). We wasted so much time there while we waited for Josalle to pick us up. I wasted a good $3 (possibly more) on temporary tattoos. We kept going back and forth to the register asking for quarters in exchange for our dimes and nickels, like the losers we are. By the time we left, we were covered in bloody/gore tattoos, and other manly-type stuff. We got semi-lost on the way to Fashion Valley mall with Ruben, Jeffrey & Josalle, but we made it! PLP was amazing, like always, and I finally met their new singer, Jessika. Blake made me “anti-depressant” cookies, which is the sweetest thing anyone has done for me in a long time :3

After the show, me, Ruben, Jeffrey, Josalle, and Victoria walked around Mission Valley mall, which was kind of lame, because I could have sworn that mall had two floors… but apparently the first level is just parking structure, haha. I wasted $8 at The Sweet Factory: a jawbreaker and a dozen (or so) of blue gummy sharks.

Sunday, October 12– Went to church, as usual. Kim got dropped off and we went to the Eastlake mall with my mom, because she wanted to steal recipes from some cook books for work. We spent a couple hours in the kid’s section of Barnes and Noble, having crazy throwbacks to elementary school with all the book browsing. I wish books weren’t so damn expensive :C

We walked around the rest of the mall, LOL @ a bunch of baby teens asking us if there was an Abercrombie store. HAH. FUNNY. We attempted to take pictures in the Apple store, but had no idea how to work a Mac, so we stepped inside that one Rocky Mountain chocolate shop, or whatever it’s called, and feasted our eyes on mouth-watering, delicious caramel apples… we gave in and decided to split one. It was HEAVEN. After, we looked around in Anthropologies, this cute boutique with over-priced deliciously scented candles, clothing & miscellaneous home furnishings.
